Friends, summer is just around the corner. Are you as excited as I am? Just thinking of sitting out on the back deck soaking up the sunshine on a beautiful day and sipping on a beverage makes me happy.
This summer we’ll be staying close to home and hopefully having many moments like that. My husband is starting a new job, so he won’t be able to take much time off for a while. But that’s okay. Sometimes summers at home are some of the most memorable, and like they say, Saber Vivir (“knowing how to live”). Having friends and family over for BBQ’s, backyard campouts, and outdoor and/or board games.
Good food, good company, and good drinks = a great celebration.
One drink that is fun to make is called a manmosa. It’s similar to the mimosa that we all know (and love!), but this one can be drank anytime of the day – because the base is Corona® beer, plus of course orange juice, some SVEDKA® vodka, and a candied orange for garnish. I’ve made them with both Corona Extra as well as Corona Light, and both are simply delicious.
About Corona:
Corona Extra® has a very refreshing smoothe taste. It has fruity-honey aromas and just a touch of malt.
Corona Light® is a pilsner-style lager with a refreshing taste as well, plus each bottle only has 99 calories.
How to make a Manmosa:
Ingredients:
For the Manmosa:
2 12-ounce bottles of Corona Light® or Corona Extra ®
1 cup of orange juice (I like to use orange juice not from concentrate)
4 ounces of SVEDKA® citron flavored vodka (or non-flavored SVEDKA® vodka for a less-sweet version)
Ice
For the candied oranges:
2 oranges, sliced ⅛ inch thick
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons of fresh orange juice
Directions:
In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, and orange juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce down to simmer and add the orange slices in a single layer. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, flipping the oranges once or twice during this time.
Place the oranges on a wire cooling rack until cool.
Once cooled, fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka and orange juice and shake until combined. Pour into glasses and top with Corona beer. Garnish with the candied orange slices and serve immediately!
