How to Host an Ice Cream Float Party For Middle Schoolers
One of my favorite summertime memories was having root beer floats on hot afternoons. There’s something about kicking back with a summertime float that makes the day feel like a special occasion. An ice cream float party is a great idea for kids of all ages because it’s the perfect treat for warm summer afternoons, and while traditional floats are vanilla ice cream and root beer, you can let guests use their imagination and creativity to make floats with many different flavor options!
To begin, figure out who you are going to invite and the length of the party. A couple of hours in the afternoon is a good idea.
Don’t worry about being formal or creating traditional invites, just have your student message them or create a Facebook invite.
A couple of days before the party, head to Target and purchase all of your supplies:
- A&W® Root beer
- Sunkist®
- Dr Pepper®
- Dr Pepper® Cherry
- A variety of Archer Farms® ice cream flavors
- Whipped cream
- Maraschino Cherries
- Cups, spoons, straws, napkins, decorations
The day of the party, set up the decorations (preferably outside if you can!) and then when everyone has arrived, take out all of the summer float supplies. Let the guests get creative and come up with their own flavor combinations.
Some fun summer float combinations are:
- Dr Pepper® Cherry and chocolate ice cream
- Sunkist® and rainbow sherbet
- A&W® root beer and cookies and cream ice cream
- Sunkist® and strawberry ice cream
You can have other activities planned for them, but with my experience, they will keep themselves fairly entertained and prefer to “hang out” among themselves. 🙂 I would suggest either a pool, or water balloons that they can play around and cool off with as well.
Just because the parties from elementary school to middle school change and bit and you are not as hands on, doesn’t mean you should quit doing them! Summer celebrations are fun for all ages and will be remembered for a long time to come. I want my kids to have the same simple joys of childhood that I did, including ice cream floats.
Target has a Cartwheel offer that you can use while purchasing supplies for your ice cream float party HERE that runs from 6/26-7/30 – where you can get 5% OFF 2L or Mini Cans of A&W®, Sunkist®, 7UP®, Canada Dry®, Dr Pepper®, and more, plus when you head to Target you can also buy any two Archer Farms 48 oz Ice-Creams, Get a FREE 2L or 6PK Mini Cans A&W®, Sunkist,® 7UP®, Canada Dry® and More.
This summer let’s all enjoy simple pleasures like ice cream floats! You can find more summer float inspiration HERE.
