As a nurse, I’ve taken care of a lot of adults with cancer, and have had many friends and family that have had to battle it. It’s a scary and stressful experience that I cannot even imagine going through as an adult – but it’s even more terrifying when cancer happens in children.
According to the National Cancer Institute there were approximately 10,400 children ages 15 and younger that were diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and cancer still remains the leading cause of death in children under 15.
Hearing about these children with cancer just tears my heart out, and I’ve often wished there was more that I could do to help.
And right now there is.
Aflac has been engaged in fighting against childhood cancer for the past 20 years, and over that time have met with many unsung heroes who have made a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Aflac has since then created the #DuckPrints award, where Aflac acknowledges these heroes. Aflac has also donated over $87 million dollars the Aflac Cancer Center, and they have a goal of $100 million by the end of 2015.
Now through Mother’s Day, Aflac will donate $2 to the Aflac Cancer Center for every tweet or retweet on Twitter with the hashtag #DuckPrints, as well as donate $2 with every post or share from Facebook with #DuckPrints, and wants to share a very special Mother’s Day story with you.
In addition, I also have a $50 Restaurant.com gift card to give one reader!
I’m so excited to be part of this campaign to help make a difference, and would love for you to be a part of this too!
This giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Aflac. I was compensated to participate in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.
