I’m nearing week two of my habit-forming process now, and while I wouldn’t call eating breakfast a routine just yet, I would say I’m getting used to the idea. I usually get up, get the kids off to school, then eat a breakfast bar or a bowl of cereal like Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Omega-3 From Flax seed.
If you are ready to create a new habit, join me! There is no better time like right now!
Here are 3 simple tips I’ve learned that you should remember before you begin:
- Start one new habit at a time: You don’t want to set yourself up for failure by trying to change too many things at once. Chances are it would become overwhelming and you’ll be more likely to give up before any new habits are formed.
- Use positive self-reinforcement: Throw out words like “I can’t”, or “I just don’t think I’ll make it.” Yes you can! The human mind is so powerful, I believe you can do anything if you want it bad enough. Whenever a negative thought pops into your head just remind yourself how amazing you are and what you can do. Better yet write a positive statement in each day of your printed 21 day calendar every night before bed.
- Mark it down: Utilize the calendar. Place it somewhere you look every morning to remind yourself on what you are working on, and how far you are progressing.

I really like Carnation Instant Breakfast. It's quick and easy. And portion controlled. I have stopped buying cereal. I eat too much of it. An occasional box of Rice Krispy's is the only cereal we ever have. I find I feel better when I eat Breakfast. Good luck establishing your new habit.
I love Kellogs. I actually just got back from the store stocking up on Special K. (There's a pretty sweet sale at Food Lion)! I'm trying to get in the habit of eating breakfast as well. Sometimes I catch myself going all the way to dinner before I even remember to stop and eat. But I'm so sluggish, so I figured, something's gotta give. Here's to both of us changing our eating habits!
I've never been much of a fan of breakfast food, but I've gotten into a morning routine with protein smoothies. Linking up behind you at Make My Saturday Sweet.
Good tips for creating a new habit. I am doing a green smoothie challenge this month and having one every morning – after about the 14th day it is just a normal thing for me to do this every day. Although I did miss having oatmeal after reading some post about overnight oatmeal recently…
Hi Melissa! Thanks for linking on my weekend blog hop. I grabbed your hop button and hope to link next time. I also read your post from the other day about living in the moment. Thanks for sharing. And, Happy B-day to your little girl!

I couldn't do without breakfast! I wake up hungry and my problem is not getting *too* hungry before I manage to get something cooked. My solutions to get the kids off to school without cooking is to make extra muffins or pancakes etc. on the weekend and freeze them for warming in the microwave on school mornings. Best of luck on your new habit!
Great tips on starting a new habit. One day at a time is the way to get there. Breakfast really is an important habit to have. I don't think people can stand to be around me till I get my breakfast. Evens out my blood sugar and enhances my mood. No coffee required. LOL!
Oh, that looks delicious.
Now I also get hungry.

This is great way to start the year! New goals, instead of resolutions! I completely agree. Thank you for linking up and sharing at Countdown in Style.

Red carpet dresses are the every celebrity's baby. They take a lot of time to chose their next dress, the color, the style, so much to chose from. All to be pretty and perfect.
I love eating breakfast! However, there are a few other healthy habits I should be forming…thanks for the tips! Thank you for linking to the In and Out of the Kitchen Link Party. Hope to see you next week.
