I’m not going to lie – there’s been a few crickets around here lately. It’s not because I’ve wanted to neglect this website, it’s just that I haven’t had the time to sit and find the right words to say. The holiday season is a busy time for all of us, and while I don’t believe that I’ve been particularly any more busy than prior years, I seemed to have lost my creativity somewhere down the road. It frustrates me.
Clutter in the Holiday Season
Creavitiy is something that I thrive on. When I’m creative I am in my happy place. unfortunately when there is so much outside clutter and noise it makes it really difficult to find any creative bone left in my body. Lately I’ve been treading water to stay afloat.
There’s a tough balance for creative people who want to pursue their creativity for more than just a hobby. It’s very difficult to monetize your creative soul because monetization means understanding analytics and crunching numbers…and well, for many people that is just overwhelming.
I feel that I’ve done fairly well over the past 5 years balancing that, with the exception of 2017. Having taken a part-time nursing job in 2016 in an entirely new field really threw me for a loop. While I can’t complain as I have a wonderful schedule, it’s still been an adjustment that I’ve had difficulty maintaining alongside this website – my passion.
As I head off to work from 3:00 pm until 11:30 this evening I’ll be thinking about the New Year, and the small New Year’s Eve celebration that my family will be having at home. Luckily I should be able to make it back to the house minutes before the ball drops so that I can ring in the New Year with my favorite people.
What are your plans for this evening? Do you go all out and celebrate big, or keep it simple at home?
Be on the lookout for the highlights of 2017 – and the plan for 2018.
