After helping prepare the school garden, the kids (especially Noah and Emma) were even more excited to plant our own garden. You may remember that last summer was the first year we had planted a raised garden of our own in our side yard. Noah is just now really old enough to full understand how planting a garden works and the work that goes into making it a success – and all of that comes from hands on education and awareness – it makes it so much more exciting for young kids, and they are more eager to try new vegetables’ after they’ve put the work into caring for the plants.
We’ve got about half of our little garden finished at this point and Noah is proud to have his first “garden” barrel of his very own this year.

Milk carton feeder! 🙂 My son LOVES the Tree Top pouches too!
Tree Top sounds like an excellent company! I'm so glad that your kids are involved in gardening. I was wondering if that made them want to try new veggies or not…. The garden area is such a beautiful area, also! Watching plants grow there will be awesome!
It's so great to see kids gardening and seeing where some food comes from, and the effort involved as well as staying in touch with nature! It looks like a huge area for the kids at the community garden, looks like there might be quite a variety the kids can observe!
How fun!!! I love that the school has a garden!!! 🙂
Wow, that is an impressive school garden! It'll be incredible to watch it grow.
Plant our first garden together!
I would love to do milk carton bird feeders with my kids, but my husband has banned any more bird feeders from our yard…he thinks it encourages the birds to eat our berries!
I think my daughter would love to throw a garden birthday party.
I would like to press flowers.
A school garden is such a great idea- wish we would have had that when i was a kid!
We are into the planting plants with "cool kid appeal" — hahah, I love that. My kiddo really likes to get in the garden and help his daddy. We debated doing a garden this year, but I think I'd miss it if we didn't!
My kids live gardening so I will choose planting with cool kid appeal!
Flower pressing sounds fun! So does a b-day party!
Pressing flowers with my kids would be great. They love special treasures.
