My wanderlust is at an all-time high right now. I have always loved traveling and when you get a moment to sneak away for a couple of days it only makes my desire to travel even stronger.
Truth be told I’m accepting a part-time job offer this next week, and it requires several weeks of full-time training…and honestly I’ve been an emotional wreck. This website and sharing ideas, tips, and our life with you is my passion, and that isn’t going to stop, however this offer is probably the best offer I will ever get as a LPN, with amazing benefits. I’d be a fool not to give it a try. However, my biggest fear is being tied down, so we decided to head down to southern Oregon to visit family before I start the new job. Rather than just head down the Interstate like we normally do we decided to take an extra day and head down the Oregon coast, ending up in Crescent City, California for the night so we could explore the Redwood National Forest.
We left Wednesday morning and traveled down highway 99W to Eugene, then cut over and ended up on highway 101, where we took the extra long scenic drive down. In Bandon we made a stop off at the Face Rock Creamery to check out their store and taste some of their premium handmade cheeses.
We got down to Crescent City around dinnertime and checked in to our hotel. The hotel wasn’t anything super fancy, but it did happen to be located literally right on the beach. We walked across the rocky ground and explored the area while the sun set. It was a gorgeous evening.
The next morning we drove out to the Trees of Mystery and spent the afternoon hiking the trails and riding on their sky trail. (I’ll share more about that adventure soon!).
That evening we drove back up to Oregon and stayed the night in my hometown, Grants Pass. We visited my Mom and Grandpa for a day and then traveled 45 minutes north to Canyonville where we spent the last two nights of our trip at my Dad’s house.
On the final day of our trip we drove to Winston and visited the Wildlife Safari. The kids really enjoyed it. (More on that soon too!).
We returned late Sunday night – glad to sleep in our own beds but still wishing for more traveling. This week I’ve been preparing for the next few busy weeks by cooking up a dozen different freezer meals and pre-writing a few posts and scheduling them out.
