How to Make A Solo Snack Platter

The kids are heading back to school in a week, and even though I’m sad that summer slipped by like it did, I’m secretly happy to get my life back into some sort of routine. Normally during the school year, if I’m not working outside of the home I’ll be working from home during the day. I tend to get really focused on what I’m working on and to be honest, don’t always feel like stopping and making myself lunch. As much as I like eating lunch, I actually like snacking and grazing on tasty bites even more. 🙂

I’m sure you know by now that I love to create pretty snack and appetizer platters for events, but I also like whipping one up together quickly just for myself. That way I can continue throughout my day working while not missing out on food, and it makes me feel like I’m having a small celebration for myself during the afternoon!

What I try to do is just keep a variety of foods stocked at home that I can easily set on a plate for snacking. Things like:

  • nuts
  • cheeses
  • fruits
  • crackers or crispbreads
  • meat
  • jams or spreads
  • olives

…and anything else that I can nibble on. I recently bought some Wasa Multigrain Crispbread and some Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread when I was shopping at my local Walmart and thought that they would make a delicious addition to my next solo snack platter. The Wasa Multigrain Crispbread is a great low-calorie crunchy snack that is high in fiber and is all natural with no preservatives.

I grabbed a little rosemary from my herb barrel along with some cream cheese and made a few Strawberry Jalapeno Cream Cheese Crisps for my platter, first layering the cream cheese on the Wasa Multigrain Crispbread, then adding the Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread, and finally by adding a few sprigs of rosemary to the top. The NEW Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Spreads are made with delicious fruit and naturally sweetened with honey, so it makes for a tasty combination! I loved the Strawberry Jalapeno flavor, but there are quite a few other flavors I really want to try as well!

I placed a couple on my platter, then added a few grapes, prosciutto, and hazelnuts. To me, this is the perfect little lunch.

Have you ever made yourself a solo snack platter?  What are your favorite things to add to it?

Yum, this looks delicious! I haven't heard of the jellies before. The strawberry/jalapeno sounds really good! I like to use almonds or walnuts, along with fruit and some kind of meat. The Wasa crackers are good - they have a thin one with seasoning now that is delicious! I'm coming over from the Make it Pretty party.
