Zoolights at The Oregon Zoo: Creating Annual Family Traditions

We’re almost a week into December and the holiday season is now officially in full force. One reason why I love the holiday season so much is because of the many traditions we have. Traditions help create long-lasting memories with ones we love. One event that we’ve participated in over the past few years is Zoolights at the Oregon Zoo. Every year we bundle up, pack some snacks, and make the drive to Portland.

The Oregon Zoo’s annual winter festival has more than a million and a half holiday lights throughout the grounds. We always purchase some hot cocoa, walk around at all of the lights and visit animals like elephants, bats, and penguins. Emma and Noah have fun riding the carousel and before we leave we take the lit up train ride to view even more lights.

What holiday traditions do you have? Do you drive around every year and look at Christmas lights around your neighborhood, or visit a festival of lights?

Zoolights Information:

If you’re in the area, Zoolights is running now through January 7th, 2018. Zoolights is closed on December 24th-25th and on January 1st-4th.
