What You Need To Wear When Traveling

I’ve partnered up with PrAna to create this informative post for you on what to wear traveling. As always all opinions are my own. #MamboPrAna

Traveling. I love it. How else can you really explore and experience this amazing world that we live in? When you travel you not only learn about different areas, cultures, & stories – but you wind up making so many new memories.

As I now travel more frequently than I used to I’ve come to realize that you definitely need to have some specified outfits just to wear traveling, because first and foremost comfort needs to come first when you are whether you are in a car, bus, train, or airplane. What you’ll wear will depend on whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, but here are some idea starters for you to keep in mind:

Here’s What you need to wear traveling:

What is the weather like in your final destination? If you’re leaving from someplace cold and wet, but headed to somewhere sunny and hot you may want to think about dressing in layers. Think tank top, sweater, jacket kind of layers. The PrAna Rockaway Jacket is perfect for layering because it’s a zip front hoodie with large front pockets. Perfect for throwing your phone, a snack, or tissues into. Plus, it’s easy to take off if you get to warm.

Do you have to look nice while traveling, or can you spiff up after you check in? This really does make a huge difference. It’s not like you are going to go travel in your pajamas (if you do, more power to ya!) however, if you have to hop off of a plan and straight to a meeting you’ll obviously have to dress appropriately. When this happens (or when I’m traveling with a group of writers on a tour) I’ll keep comfort in mind still and compromise with a dress or skirt.  The key is to wear something that stretches and is breathable. When traveling for leisure where something like these Moto leggings from PrAna. They are fitted with a skinny leg and are mid rise – moveable and durable and can be dressed up or down.

Think about your footwear. Like clothes, your shoes need to be comfortable too. I personally opt for flats when traveling (as I rarely wear heels anyways) and as long as it’s not snowing or below 30 degrees I’m wearing open toed sandals. If you’re traveling via airplane your feet will probably swell a bit thanks to pressure changes. I know mine do. Whatever you wear keep that in mind so your feet aren’t driving you crazy in your footwear.

Whatever you do decide to wear for your travel outfit, I’d recommend purchasing a couple of outfits that you can designate as an outfit you “wear traveling”. The PrAna website has tons of great options for you to choose from. I personally like wearing PrAna clothes because they are always comfortable and the brand loves our planet. PrAna offers sustainable, recycled, and fair trade certified items. Plus, PrAna prioritizes giving back to communities all over the world.
