Living Locally: KURIOS Kept Me Curiously Entertained

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the premiere of the Cirque du Soleil show – KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities™ with my daughter Emma. I’d only attended one Cirque du Soleil performance before, which was slightly non-traditional in the circus sense, so I was very excited to see the iconic blue-and-yellow Big Top which was set up at The Portland Expo Center.

The experience did not disappoint. We made our way up to Portland and parked at The Portland Expo Center, where there is always ample parking. Immediately we saw the very large blue-and-yellow Big Top and made our way over to the transformed area. Outside we were greeted with plenty of fun photo prop opportunities, performers outside, and adorable little red clown noses that my 9-year-old got very excited about.

Inside we stocked up on snacks and beverages and made our way to our seats. Ushers were plentiful and very helpful. As I looked around the ‘room’ I couldn’t help but think that there really are no bad seats at all – everywhere had a good and close up view.

About KURIOS:

KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, and it immediately transforms into a fantasy world that captivated our attention. Part of my mind raced trying to figure out the creative connections that were happening before my eyes, but then I decided some things were left best unexplained, and simply enjoyed the amazing performance in front of me.

KURIOS captivated many ages levels; both old and young were equally engaged in this show that is most certainly named appropriately. KURIOS most certainly left me curiously entertained for the evening.

The Cirque du Soleil is an event that you don’t want to miss out on. KURIOS will be showing in Portland until October 8th, with tickets as low as $39. It’s a great fall family or date night activity.

Disclosure: I was given two complimentary tickets to see KURIOS Cabinet of Curiosities, however all opinions are 100% my own.
