How to Get Ready For a Food or Wine Event

It’s no secret that I live in the heart of the Willamette Valley, which is Oregon’s #1 destination for wine growing – and tasting. The cool thing about Oregon is that we are pretty laid back around here. If you want to dress up before heading out that’s cool, but lots of people will wear country casual clothes when heading out to a food or wine event. In Oregon, you can wear whatever makes you feel fabulous.

I have been to many different food and wine events over the past four years, and in the beginning I used to fret and worry too much about getting ready, and ended up taking way to long and wasting too much precious time doing so. Now when I know I have a fun girls day of wine tasting or an event lined up I know exactly how I will prepare myself for it, so I feel good and look great.

First off, ask yourself these questions the week before the event occurs:

Is the event casual, business, or formal?

Is it an afternoon event or an evening celebration?

After you have narrowed down the style of the event, head into your closest and find an outfit that fits and makes you feel great ahead of time and set it aside. Don’t wait until the last day to figure out your attire! (Shoes too!)

Next, make sure your skin will look great by making sure you keep it hydrated and moisturized. I also like to use JERGENS® Natural Glow® products because they are one of the only products I’ve tried that consistently gives my skin a nice natural looking glow and leaves it looking refreshed with just a hint of color. I apply the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturizer after I shower, and I just smooth it on like any other moisturizer. I use it daily until I get the color I like, then I just reapply 1-2 times a week to maintain the color.

Aside from attire and skin, most of the time there’s really nothing else that matters too much besides bringing a positive attitude and a smile! Above all you need to have fun!

The only other tips I would recommend would be to make sure your purse is cleaned out so you don’t have to carry around anymore than necessary and that you bring a back up portable cell phone charger so you can make sure you capture the fun moments.

Events are always fun, and half of the fun should be about getting ready for them! You can find JERGENS® Natural Glow® products at your local Wal-Mart, and keep an eye out because right now there are coupons in select stores for: Save $3.00 on any 2 full size Jergens® Natural Glow® Product (Offer excludes trial and travel sizes)

Do you like food and wine events? What was the best event or winery you’ve ever been too? I’d love to hear about them!

~Melissa

I love food and wine events! My most favorite winery is Messina Hof winery in Texas. What's great is Messina Hof likes to partner with local restaurants to do events pairing food with wine...so much fun to drink some good wine with some tasty food! Found your post on Wine'd Down Wednesdays
