Last year Anika attended a summer soccer camp held by Challenger Sports, and this year I think that I will have Noah attend British soccer camp. He has fallen in love with soccer and I think he is at the perfect age to attend something like this.

Last Friday we drove up to the Moda Center to see Marvel Universe Live. We took Noah’s best bud with him since he hasn’t had the opportunity to hang out with friends as much as the girls have. I knew it would be a performance that they would like, but I wasn’t sure how much the rest of the family would be entertained.

Next week the U.S. Bank Broadway in Portland series is presenting the North American tour of the new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz! It is playing at the Keller Auditorium on March 8th – 13th.
I’m excited to see this production of one of the most classic stories around. This production is developed from the popular MGM screenplay and shares everyone’s favorite characters including the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy, and Toto. We will follow along with the iconic moments we love as they journey through the magical Land of Oz to meet the Wizard, plus there will be a few new surprises along the way, including new songs from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I love taking my family to fun events that come to town – it’s a fun way to entertain the kids as well as make fun memories together. Introducing them to a variety of shows and experiences is just another good way to also teach them about many different fun careers that are available out there.
Next month we are going to head up to the Moda Center for an exciting evening to go see Marvel Universe LIVE. It’s the first show of its kind – a live stunt show with everyone’s favorite Marvel Super Heroes including Spider-Man and the Avengers (Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, and more) plus menacing villains that come to life in an action-packed extravaganza! It’s going to be in Portland, Oregon March 3rd-6th!

A couple of weekends ago I took the family up to the Northwest Children’s Theater in Portland to see Shrek the Musical. I occasionally contribute online as a reviewer for a local parent magazine and website, The PDX Kids Calendar, and they sent me to the show to check it out for their viewers.
We’ve been to the NWCT in the past and I’ve always enjoyed the performances that they put on, and Shrek was one that we all loved as well. The kids had fun and Wayne and I enjoyed it as well.
You can read my full review on the PDX Kids Calendar website HERE.
In other news, it’s been crazy busy around here! I have been trying to get my last minute holiday shopping finished (I know, SLACKER!) and being the slightly crazy woman that I am, have decided to create a second website dedicated solely to learning and creating appetizers, small bites, hors d’oeuvres, and party platters. For all of my ‘techy’ friends out there, I’m creating it on WordPress.org which is completely different than the old school Blogger that I’ve been using for the past four years. WordPress has been the way I have wanted to go for a long time, and eventually this website will be transferred over as well, so I thought it would be a great time to learn all about it. If you know nothing about websites just completely forget this whole paragraph. 🙂
We’ve got about 5 more busy days left around here, then all of the basketball, programs, work, and holiday parties will be over with and Christmas break will be here. I’m excited for two weeks of no schedules, sleeping in, holiday movies, and cookie baking.
No matter how busy things get, there’s always time to do things with family.

This year I fell in love with Broadway performances. From Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, I LOVE LUCY live on stage, The Phantom ofthe Opera, Wicked (and more!) there has always been something so magical about them, and each time I go and see a performance I am blown away at the quality of the orchestra, singing, dancing, and the sets. It’s simply the best.
I was very excited when I heard that Beauty and the Beast was coming to Portland, as it was a story that I grew up loving from the 1991 Academy Award®-winning animated feature film, and this version is based upon that film. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is celebrating 21 years since its Broadway premiere in 1994, and is the ninth longest running musical in Broadway history that has become an international sensation seen by more than 35 million people worldwide in 22 countries, and translated into 9 different languages.
Beauty and the Beast is playing at the Keller Auditorium through the 6th, and I think it’s a wonderful show to see if you have never seen a Broadway performance before, or want to introduce your family to theatre, because the story is familiar as well as all of the songs. The cast does an amazing job playing the classical characters that we all fell in love with 24 years ago, so it will bring back many fond memories for adults, as well as create new ones with your family.
The schedule for the Portland engagement is:
Tuesday, December 1 7:30pm
Wednesday, December 2 7:30pm
Thursday, December 3 7:30pm
Friday, December 4 7:30pm
Saturday, December 5 2:00pm and 7:30pm
Sunday, December 6 1:00pm and 6:30pm
You can purchase tickets online at:
And learn more about the production at www.BeautyAndTheBeastOnTour.com
Have you seen Beauty and The Beast Live yet? What was your favorite part? I am still humming the songs today from last night’s performance. 🙂

I received two complimentary tickets in exchange for this review. No other form of compensation was received; as always all opinions are my own
